THE Pakistan Cricket Board has confirmed that Zimbabwe will tour the Asian country for limited overs fixtures to be played in November.
PCB chief executive, Wasim Khan was quoted in the Asian country’s media yesterday stating that Zimbabwe are scheduled to arrive in Pakistan in mid-October for three One Day Internationals and same number of Twenty20 Internationals. The ODIs are part of the ICC Super League, which is the pathway for the 2023 Cricket World Cup to be played in India.
As per the prevailing coronavirus procedures, the Zimbabwean team will land in Pakistan on 20 October and spend two weeks in quarantine, after which the series starts from the first week of November.
PCB are consulting the England and Wales Cricket Board on how best to come up with a bio-secure environment under which domestic and international cricket can take place.
A bio-secure environment is a set of measures aimed at preventing the introduction and spread of harmful organism (in this case coronavirus).
It also aims at lessening the risk of transmission of infectious diseases to people or animals caused by viruses, bacteria and microorganisms.
Zimbabwe Cricket acting managing director, Givemore Makoni said they will only make pronouncements on the tour once they are given the green light by the Government.
ZC have to make an application to the Government through the Sports and Recreation Commission for permission to tour Pakistan.
