Zimbabwean golfers lead in Malawi Open

ZIMBABWEAN professional golfers, Visitor Maphwanya and Robson Chinhoi are leading the pack in the Seed.Co Malawi Open Golf Championship after day two of the tournament.

Maphwanya is in position one with a gross total of 136 points -8 under par with 67 and 69 shots in round one and two respectively. In position two, Chinhoi has a gross total of 139 points and -5 under par with round scores of 68 and 71.

Chinhoi is however no stranger to the tournament having won last year’s edition and will be looking to reciprocate his performance this time around as well.

Safari Tour winner Nyasha Muyambo is tied in position three with Ghanaian Biggy Chibvuri on a gross total of 140 points and -4 under par and similar round scores of 69 and 71.

Malawi’s highly rated Paul Chidale is sitting in position six with a gross total of 144 points and a par score of zero. Chidale has round scores of 73 and 71 from the two completed rounds.

Other Zimbabweans participating are Tafara Mpofu who is sitting in position nine with a gross total of 148 points and four over par and is followed by countryman Promise Sombreiro who has a total of 149 points and five over par. Sombreiro, Nevy Milazi, Tatenda Makunde and Liberty Gumisa, all Zimbabweans are tied in position 10 with the same total points.

Clive Nguru, Tonde Masunga and Anyway Katembenuka are tied in position 16 with a gross total of 150 points and six over par. Simon Katembenuka is sitting in position 20 with a gross total of 151 and seven over par.

In position 29 sits another Zimbabwean, Morton Kumbai with a gross total of 155 points and 11 over par and is followed by Bradley Kulaisi and Tongoona Charamba who are tied in position 30 with a total of 156 points and 12 over par.

The last Zimbabwean in the tournament is Bernard Magaso who is sitting in position 37 with a gross total of 165 points and 21 over par. Magaso recorded scores of 84 and 81 in his first two rounds.
