Poet and author, Bright K is raising Zimbabwe’s flag high on foreign soil after being recently honoured with a prestigious award for his excellence in poetry.

The artist received the “International Award Winning Poet and Author” accolade from the Global Icon Award, sponsored by the Gyan Uday Foundation, during a ceremony held at the Radisson Blu Hotel in Amritsar, Punjab, India, this past Saturday.

He is also nominated for the Best African Poet in Asia at the Asia Awards.

The Global Icon Awards recognise individuals from around the world who are based in India and are making a positive impact through their professions.

Bright K, who is pursuing a Bachelor of Honours Degree in Social Work at the Career Transformation University in India, expressed his pride in having his talent recognised beyond his home country.

“I feel so much appreciated to be recognised away from home. To think that at home, I never received this kind of recognition makes this a milestone achievement for me. Here, my poetry and book-writing are recommended and highly appreciated on an advanced standard,” Bright K said.

“This recognition has empowered me to continue working hard and to make a meaningful impact through my work, influencing positive change in our communities,” he added.
