FORSTER Mutizwa will be the fourth official when India and South Africa clash in the ICC T20 final at Bayuemas Oval, Kula Lumpur today.

Ashlee Gibbons of Australia and Nitin Bathi of the Netherlands will be the on-field umpires assisting match referee David Gilbert of England.

The third official will be Aidan Seaver of Ireland with Mutizwa as the fourth as international sport continues to recognise Zimbabwe’s officiating talent.

Mutizwa is a former part-time wicketkeeper and middle-order batsman who played top-class cricket in the country.

He had an outstanding 2006-2008 spell scoring hundreds in those two seasons before an international call up came his way.

His run in the Logan Cup in those two years marked one of his best spells on the oval as a player and with it came inclusion into the squad that toured Bangladesh.

Mutizwa never made it into starting X1 and his turn to play for his country came in January 2009 when Zimbabwe played Kenya.

He had a good run of decent form in Kenya and scored 61 runs in the fourth ODI.

When Kenya visited Zimbabwe, Mutizwa scored 79 and 55 runs consecutively in the opening two ODIs.

In the following Logan Cup season of 2009/10, Mutizwa continued to be on fire hitting the 1 000 run mark at an average of over 60 before a career best of 190 for Mashonaland Eagles in their win over Mid-West Rhinos.

Mutizwa upon retiring almost a decade ago took up umpiring and in the year of his 40th birthday he is officiating in a World Cup final.
