HUNDREDS of Zimbabweans based in the United Kingdom have joined hands with people back home to mark the SADC Anti-Sanctions Day, delivering a petition to the United States Embassy in London to demand for the unconditional removal of sanctions imposed on Zimbabwe.
The day’s main event, which served as a unified call for solidarity and action, was headlined by President Emmerson Mnangagwa in Harare this afternoon.
The SADC Anti-Sanctions Day, observed every year on 25 October, was set aside by the Southern African Development Community (SADC) in 2019 to collectively denounce the punitive measures imposed on Zimbabwe following the country’s land reform programme.
SADC maintains that the sanctions impede not only Zimbabwe’s economic growth but also negatively affects the entire region, thereby undermining collective efforts to attain regional integration and sustainable development.
