GET ready to feel the rhythm and spirit this Saturday as Mutare comes alive with the electrifying national finals of the Chibuku Neshamwari Traditional Dance Festival 2025.
After last year’s unforgettable show at Mucheke Stadium in Masvingo, the dance battle returns-this time in Mutare- where Zimbabwe’s top cultural groups will clash in a vibrant quest for traditional dance glory.
10 groups will battle it out for the top prize of US$15 000 while second and third place finishers will walk away with US$10 000 and US$7 500 respectively.
Bulawayo is being represented by Sekunjalo MaAfrika while Matabeleland South is pinning their hopes on Sekusile Dance Group with Imvimbi Arts being the lifeline for Matabeleland North province.
Other provinces are represented by Undi Gure (Midlands), Semvumba Arts Ensemble (Manicaland), Katawa Traditional Dance (Mashonaland West), Jeketera Renyaungwe (Masvingo), Goromonzi Arts (Mashonaland East), Green Stars Dance Troupe (Harare) and Guruve Marimba Arts Ensemble (Mashonaland Central).
Entertainment on the day is set to be provided by Alick Macheso, Jah Prayzah and Enzo Ishall.
This year’s event is being hosted in partnership with the National Arts Council of Zimbabwe (NACZ) and the Zimbabwe National Traditional Dance Association (ZNTDA).
The festival is known for uniting diverse communities through song, drum and dance while celebrating Zimbabwe’s rich cultural heritage.
