ZIMPAPERS group chief executive officer Mr Pikirayi Deketeke was one of the top 20 platinum winners at the Zimbabwe Top CEO’s Awards in Harare on Friday.
The event, which was organised by the Zimbabwe CEO’s Network, recognised Mr Deketeke for his “quintessential rare type of meta-analysis leadership”.
At the same event, The Sunday Mail editor Victoria Ruzvidzo was a gold winner among Zimbabwe’s top managers. Winners were recognised for excelling in the execution of their duties and responsibilities as business leaders throughout the country.
In his remarks, Zimbabwe CEO’s Network president Dr Mark Mabhudhu said the awards will “inspire others to do great and raise the bar in leadership”.
“For leadership to be palpable, there needs to be an inspiring vision which must excite all, clarity of purpose for which the business was formed and the decisions that are taken and actions that are committed must be within the realm of the value system of the organisation. Nothing beats this if one aspires to be a highly successful CEO in this cut-throat competitive business world,” he said.
Meanwhile, Ruzvidzo was also honoured by the Institute of Corporate Directors Zimbabwe in conjunction with Women Corporate Directors Network on Thursday. She landed an award for being one of the 50 visionary and inspirational women and gender mainstreaming leaders in 2022.
The guest of honour at the event, United Nations Development Programme country representative Ms Mia Seppo, said it is important to celebrate women and build critical networks.
“This can be done through support and building of bridges upon which the corporate world thrives, and through which display of transformational strength and inclusivity is built.
Indeed, the institute is undertaking commendable work in Zimbabwe as it strives to lead and demonstrate the value of excellence in directorship through enlightening directors to anticipate, influence and meet boardroom challenges of today and the future,” said Ms Seppo.
