Zimbabwe’s leading newspaper publishing house, Zimpapers, has acquired Computer-to-Plate machinery at a cost of US$330 000 for high-quality printing of its titles.
Commissioning the machinery yesterday, Zimpapers chief executive Mr Justin Mutasa said the machinery would add value to publications in the group.
“This is a long-term investment. We have invested in the future and will obviously continue to be the leader in the media industry.
“It will result in an improved product that will benefit our readers and advertisers,” he said.
Mr Mutasa said Zimpapers, being the leader of the industry, would not have obsolete equipment.
“We are now technologically equal with the world. The paper now comes out early because of the reduced production time,” he said.
Mr Rodney Lloyd, a senior engineer with a South Afri-can firm that supplied the machinery, Antalis, said Zimpapers’ acquisition would enable the company to match high quality newspapers in the region.
Zimpapers production foreman Mr Tendekayi Muzanenhamo said the machinery had been on trial for two months and the results were impressive.
