ZIMPAPERS took advantage of the Career Inspore Fair hosted by the University of Zimbabwe last week to showcase some of its products.

The fair attracted several other organisations. Staff from the leading integrated media house explained the idea behind its Zimpapers Junior Media Club initiative and Kwayedza Dzidza — a publication that is aimed at assisting learners in tackling their homework and Continuous Assessment Learning Activities (CALA).

The Junior Media Club equips learners with skills for both the print and broadcasting media. The Career Inspore Fair was part of the Research Innovation and Industrialisation Week, which is held annually at the university. It was organised by Dr Moreen Mudenda, a psychologist in the Faculty of Social and Behavioural Sciences at the institution.

Participants included learners and other stakeholders who wanted to be furnished with relevant information on possible career paths to pursue.

“We invited high school learners because I believe career engagement starts at that level. We want to mould them; help them become entrepreneurs and to make sure they are on the right path,” said Dr Mudenda.

Other organisations represented at the event included the Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe, Claxon Actuaries, the Medical and Dental Practitioners Council of Zimbabwe, the Zimbabwe National Statistics Agency, SAYWHAT and Katswe Sisterhood. Dr Mudenda said their major objective was to promote employment creation, hence their bias towards imparting entrepreneurship skills.
