Zimpapers hosts Ladies on Wheels

THE engines are revving while heels are clicking and confidence is shifting into high gear as Zimpapers gets ready to host the much-anticipated Ladies on Wheels event.

The function, which is being organised by Zimpapers through its weekly publication, The Sunday Mail in partnership with Amtec Motors, will take place at the automotive company’s branch situated at corner Robert Mugabe Road/4th Street in Harare on Saturday.

Some of the sponsors who have come on board in support of the event include Classic Motors and Cardence Investments.

It brings together ladies from all walks of life — entrepreneurs, professionals, influencers and every day heroines — to celebrate empowerment, safety and style behind the wheel.

In an interview, Zimpapers spokesperson Mrs Pauline Matanda stressed the significance of establishing spaces that recognise women’s achievements while inspiring the next generation of female leaders.

“Ladies on Wheels is not just about women driving cars — it’s about women driving progress.

“At Zimpapers, we believe in celebrating the modern woman who balances her dreams, her responsibilities and her ambitions, all while moving confidently forward,” she said.

It is in this context that Zimpapers as a leading integrated media house, through its flagship brands—The Herald and Star FM — recently hosted the Ladies Picnic in Harare held under the theme, “Creating Generational Wealth”.

“This upcoming event is our way of saying, we recognise and celebrate you, and we are here to journey with you,” said Mrs Matanda.

In a society where women continue to break barriers, Ladies on Wheels accords more than just a showcase of cars and driving skills — it’s a platform for connection, confidence and community.

The day will feature practical demonstrations on dealing with basic vehicle challenges that include jump-starting, pressure filling and engine checks.

Zimpapers, the country’s largest integrated media company, has long been a champion for women’s voices and empowerment.

The Ladies on Wheels initiative builds on that legacy — combining lifestyle, education and empowerment into one thrilling experience.

Against this background, attendees can expect interactive sessions on car maintenance, road safety and wellness — all tailored to help women navigate both the figurative and literal roads of life.

“This event is a reminder that every woman is on a journey, whether she’s behind the wheel of a car, a company, or her own destiny.

“And Zimpapers will continue to create platforms that fuel those journeys with inspiration and opportunity,” said Mrs Matanda.

At the end of the event, participants will not drive away empty-handed, but would leave with a renewed sense of empowerment — ready to take the wheel, on and off the road.
