TWO distinguished leaders from Zimpapers have been nominated for the prestigious Broadcast Media Awards Southern Africa 2025, a resounding endorsement of local media excellence.
The nominations were announced ahead of the awards ceremony set for Wednesday in Victoria Falls.
The awards will be held on the sidelines of the Broadcasters Convention–Southern Africa 2025, under the theme: Celebrating Excellence, Inspiring Africa’s Broadcasting Future.
Zimpapers General Manager, Broadcasting, Mr Comfort Mbofana, has been recognised in the highly competitive Media Executive of the Year – Male category, which celebrates influential figures across the broadcasting industry.
The Herald Editor, Ms Victoria Ruzvidzo, has earned a nomination for the coveted Media Executive of the Year – Female award.
Their nominations highlight Zimpapers’ growing influence and leadership within the Southern African media landscape.
They are nominated alongside other broadcasting luminaries from across the region.
In the male executive category, contenders include David Tiltmann (Africa Media Entertainment, South Africa) and Paulo Dias (South African Podcasters Guild).
Competing in the female category are Minenhle Dlamini (Gagasi FM, South Africa) and Mary Lusiba (BBC Services, Kenya).
The awards will celebrate excellence across a wide spectrum of broadcasting.
Categories include Best Local Content on TV, featuring nominees such as TVM (Mozambique) and ZNBC TV (Zambia), and Best Local Content on Radio, with contenders including VOW Breakfast (South Africa) and the Omulunga Programme (Namibia).
Other key awards up for grabs include Best OTT Streaming, featuring Stream Play and TRACE TV (South Africa), and Satellite Operator of the Year, contested by global giants SES and Eutelsat.
The event is expected to be a landmark celebration of talent and innovation driving Africa’s broadcasting future, with Zimbabwe proudly represented at its core.
