At least half the workforce had embarked on the industrial action in a bid to force their employer to pay their bills while the company insisted that it was not their responsibility to pay the bills.
The company built more than 1 000 housing units at Turf village at its Ngezi Mine to house its workforce.
Zimplats head of corporate affairs Busi Chindove told New Ziana workers had returned to work.
“That issue has been resolved, workers have returned to work and management maintained its position that it would not pay the bills,” she said.
She said the strike had limited effect on production at the mine since only half the workers had gone on strike.
Zimplats is the country’s biggest platinum miner, having produced 182 100 ounces of platinum in the year to 30 June 2011 and is in the midst of a $460 million expansion of the Ngezi operations to boost output to 270 000 ounces by 2014.
Last year it launched the $10 million Mhondoro-Chegutu-Zvimba community share ownership scheme as part of compliance with the indigenisation laws of the land.
Zimplats is 87 percent owned by Implats of South Africa. — New Ziana.
