ZIMPRAISE choir lead vocalist, Desire Makoni, is not just riding the wave of success with his renowned ensemble, but he is also driven by an unquenchable thirst for association with big brands.

One of the major brands he holds dear is the Zimpapers Group, which has been transforming lives through its community initiatives.

Tomorrow, the 36-year-old will make his debut at the Zimpapers Cancer Power Walk in Harare, set to take place at Old Hararians, where he is scheduled to perform.

Not only will he grace the occasion with his heavenly tunes, but he is also proud to be associated with Zimpapers and other esteemed brands.

“I feel proud to have been invited to perform here, which genuinely means a lot to me,” he shared.

“When I got the call to perform, I didn’t think twice because I understand the significance of being linked with top brands in my life.

“I have no regrets at all about being chosen as one of the performers. As an artiste, I will simply do my best and ensure that I leave a lasting impression.”

Makoni expressed a desire to showcase his full band at the event, but unfortunately, that wish will not come to fruition.

“I have always wanted to present my work with a full team at the event, but we have another commitment elsewhere in town. My only happiness is that I will be there, mingling with the best brands represented.”

Buoyed by the success of his debut album “Jesus: The Ultimate Gift”, recorded at Jacaranda Culture and Media Corporation (JCMC), the praise and worship singer boasts a rich catalogue of songs, including “Mushandiri Washe,” “Kana Toyambuka Jordan,” “Ndinodada Nemi,” “Muvaki Weguta,” “Rumbidzo,” “Ngaarumbudzwe Mwari,” “Hakuna Anoramba,” and “The Same.”

He is set to perform one or two songs from this impressive playlist.

Makoni also hailed the Zimpapers Cancer Power Walk, which has become a source of excitement and hope, engaging stakeholders and creating new memories over the past decade. Now in its 10th edition, fun is guaranteed at the event. Known for attracting large crowds from all corners of Zimbabwe, this year’s event has gained international attention, with participants from abroad joining the festivities and contributing to this noble cause.

A special link, https://cancerwalk.zimpapers.co.zw/paymentplatform/public/, has been provided for those wishing to participate virtually, whether at home or in the diaspora.

During the Covid-19 pandemic, we embraced virtual participation, and now, thanks to technological advancements, Zimpapers ensures that no one is left behind in supporting this important initiative.

We invite donations in any form to benefit cancer victims in Zimbabwe.

To ensure that virtual participants receive the recognition they deserve, we encourage them to share video clips and pictures of their routines.

Locally, tens of thousands will join the 10th anniversary celebration, proudly wearing the iconic pink regalia that has become synonymous with the event.

This attire is available at all Zimpapers outlets across the country.

As has become the tradition, the streets of Harare, Bulawayo, Masvingo, Mutare, Gweru and Chinhoyi will come alive with music, laughter and a shared sense of determination as the Zimpapers Cancer Power Walk returns for its 10th edition a milestone celebrating a decade of courage, unity and life.

Enlightening both old and new participants, event coordinator Pauline Matanda assured fitness enthusiasts of a fun-filled event that will remain engraved in many minds for years to come.
