The Zimbabwe Revenue Authority (Zimra) has announced the launch of an automated and confidential whistleblowing platform aimed at encouraging voluntary reporting of tax and customs offences.
In a statement, ZIMRA urged businesses and individuals to report any malpractices involving companies that refuse local currency or claim their POS machines are out of service to compel transactions in USD cash.
“We encourage the public to provide the information voluntarily and out of goodwill,” said the authority.
To facilitate this, Zimra said it had established an automated and confidential whistleblowing platform accessible nationwide and internationally.
“This platform ensures that all reports are handled securely and confidentially, with access limited to authorised Zimra officials only,” said Zimra.
“The platform can be used to report various tax and customs offences beyond those specifically mentioned, reinforcing the message that public vigilance is vital in ensuring compliance.
“By reporting tax and customs malpractices, you are helping to build a better Zimbabwe. Your taxes and duties contribute to the development of our nation.”
