The Zimbabwe Revenue Authority (Zimra) has advised clients and stakeholders of intermittent connectivity challenges affecting some of its systems, resulting in delays in customs clearance transactions.

In a public notice issued on on Saturday, the Authority said the challenges were affecting availability of some of its systems.

“Affected clients are encouraged to remain in contact with their clearing agents and the relevant Customs offices for guidance on available contingency arrangements,” said Zimra.

The organisation said efforts were underway to restore full services as soon as possible.

The development comes at a time when Beitbridge Border Post, the country’s busiest inland port handling thousands of travellers and commercial trucks daily, relies heavily on automated customs systems for trade facilitation.

Clearing agents operating at the border have in the past raised concerns that system downtimes result in truck queues and delayed movement of goods.
