Zimra website vital for customs, tax information

Did you know that the Zimbabwe Revenue Authority (Zimra) has an interactive website (www.zimra.co.zw) that is packed with a wide variety of information on Value Added Tax (VAT), Customs, Pay As You Earn (PAYE), Corporate Tax, Capital Gains Tax (CGT), Presumptive Tax, and general information about Zimra among others?
About Zimra
This section delves on the general information about the Authority especially what Zimra does as well as its vision, mission and history, among others. The section will give you an insight into the operations of Zimra, its mandate, core values and even the revenue heads it administers.
VAT, Customs and Taxes
The VAT, Customs and Taxes sections give an informative insight into these technical aspects by focusing on everything you need to know. Information under these sections cuts across a number of topical issues which include VAT registration, importation of motor vehicles, clearance procedures, mechanics of CGT, Presumptive Tax rates and PAYE tables.
Reminders and Due Dates
As part of Zimra’s ongoing efforts to keep clients informed about due dates for the submission of various returns and payment of taxes, a tax payment calendar has been posted on the website.
The website also alerts the public on notices like rummage sale days, vacancies and more through a notices section also accessible from the website’s main menu. All the “Did You Know” articles can also be found on that section as well as an archive of previously published articles.
Forms
All the relevant forms have been uploaded onto the website for the convenience of the transacting public. These forms cover various areas like registration, taxes, VAT, Customs and Excise.
Zimra has also made strides in ensuring that its website does not just inform but also encourages interaction through various functionalities:
Tariff Searches
The right pane of the site has an input field labelled “Tariff Search” which gives surfers the ability to search for the latest rates of duty on various items.
Registered Clearing Agents or Registered Declarants search
You can also use the Zimra website to search through a database of registered clearing agents.
Zimra Exchange Rates
The website also has a feature that is dedicated to giving the prevailing exchange rates. You simply select a currency from a drop-down list and the current exchange rates for that particular currency are displayed.
Asycuda World Link
You can also link to the Automated System for Customs Data (Asycuda) World directly from the Zimra website.
Feedback Mechanism
Surfers can also send in their comments or enquiries using the feedback mechanism on the website. This feature is located under the “Contacts” menu and the questions asked by clients feed into the Most Frequently Asked Questions.
An online opinion poll is also meant to capture clients’ rating of the Authority’s service delivery in terms of responsiveness to queries, attitude of Zimra officers, and Zimra officers’ knowledge of their job, among others.
Contacts
Stop worrying about where to find the next Zimra offices because the website provides a detailed map of where the offices of the Authority can be found throughout the country.
