ZimTrade shifts annual exporters’ conference dates

THE 2019 ZimTrade Annual Exporters Conference, which was scheduled for Thursday and Friday this week has been moved to next week at the Zimbabwe International Exhibition Centre.

With the conference taking place in Bulawayo for the first time, organisers said the rescheduling of dates to Thursday and Friday next week was done to ensure maximum participation of all stakeholders.

“Given the successful engagements at previous conferences, there has been overwhelming response from local participants who want to take part in the event thus, the conference will be held on 17 October at the ZITF grounds,” said ZimTrade in an update.

“The conference aims to foster dialogue and linkages between delegates and business leaders from different sectors will meet to come up with solutions that will improve Zimbabwe’s trade balance.”

It said the exporters awards event would be held next week Thursday at a local hotel with the Buyers’ Seminar set for the following day. 

Buyers have been invited from countries such as Botswana, DRC, Namibia, Zambia and the United Kingdom.

The conference will run under the theme, “Re-think, Reform, Export,” and is set to bring together Government, local exporters, industry players, academia and sector experts to discuss best approaches aimed at addressing challenges faced by local businesses. From issues raised during the annual indaba, key outcomes that are industry driven would be produced.

“These resolutions will inform engagement activities that ZimTrade will use to facilitate on improving Zimbabwe’s export capacity and the ease of doing export business.

“In line with the devolution drive by Government, this is the first time the conference is being held out of Harare and given the potential that Bulawayo represents as an industrial hub and also its declaration as a Special Economic Zone,” said ZimTrade.
