The Zimbabwe Music Rights Association (Zimura) has announced the departure of its long-serving Executive Director, Polisile Ncube Chimhini, bringing to an end a career that spanned more than 30 years at the organisation.
In a statement, Zimura said Chimhini has concluded her tenure and has expressed her intention to pursue other opportunities.
Chimhini played a central role in shaping music copyright administration and strengthening the protection of musicians’ rights in Zimbabwe and beyond.
During her three decades at Zimura, Chimhini rose through the ranks to become a key figure in the intellectual property sector, representing Zimbabwe on regional and international platforms.
She notably served as chairperson of the CISAC African Chapter, a role that placed her among the continent’s leading voices in copyright and collective rights management.
Zimura credited her with contributing significantly to the organisation’s growth, visibility and institutional development, citing her technical expertise and deep institutional knowledge as instrumental to its evolution over the years.
The association assured its members and stakeholders that the transition is being handled in a structured and professional manner.
Zimura’s operations will continue under the supervision of the board and the existing management team, with details regarding future leadership to be communicated in due course.
The board expressed its gratitude to Mrs Chimhini for her long and distinguished service and wished her success as she embarks on the next phase of her professional journey.
