The Zimbabwe Music Rights Association (Zimura) is holding its Annual General Meeting (AGM) today, which coincides with elections for the organisation’s board of directors.
The AGM comes at a pivotal moment for Zimura, as discussions around royalty distribution and artiste welfare continue to dominate the local music industry.
The outcome of today’s elections is expected to shape the association’s leadership and influence its advocacy for music creators’ rights across Zimbabwe.

Zimura is a national body that protects the interests of music writers, composers and publishers, ensuring they receive fair compensation for their creative work.
Among the candidates vying for board positions are Gift Amuli, First Farai, Joseph Garakara, Alexio Gwenzi, Mudiwa Hood, Simbarashe Hudson, Willis Kachambwa, Victor Kunonga, Derrick Mpofu, Nathaniel Ncube, Tinashe Nyamukapa, Dingumuzi Phuti, Temba Tagwireyi, Shingirayi Tapomwa, Andrew Mupembe, and the only female candidate, Diana Samukange.
The AGM and elections are expected to provide a clear direction for the association’s priorities in the coming term.
