Toll fees paid in local currency rise on Monday, while remaining constant in US dollars, as Zinara catches up on exchange rate movements in recent months.

Since December 2021, the rates have been set in United State dollars at: light motor vehicles US$2, minibuses US$3, buses US$4, heavy vehicles US$5, haulage trucks US$10 and residential discount per term of US$40.

Zinara is supposed to adjust the local currency figure regularly when exchange rate changes need this.

In a statement, Zinara spokesperson Mr Tendai Mugabe said the authority for regular resetting of tolls in local currency depending on the official exchange rate comes from Section 4 of Statutory Instrument 32 of 2021.

Zinara falls under the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructural Development and was established in August 2001, in terms of the Roads Act of 2001 with the aim of enhancing road network system throughout Zimbabwe.
