There is no local football to talk about without mentioning Dynamos.
The club traces its roots to Mbare and among its accrued nicknames is DeMbare.
There is belief that the club should always accommodate players who can be traced to one of the oldest ghettos.
Currently, of all its 30 registered players, exciting midfielder Emmanuel Ziocha is the only one who can be traced back to Mbare.
“I was born and bred in Mbare. I know at the moment I am the one representing all the boys from the ghetto and I know that I am obliged to push extra hard so that I inspire them too,” said Ziocha.
“I grew up watching the likes of Edmore Mufema, Nyasha Chazika, Cliff Sekete, Devon Chafa, Ronald Chitiyo, and Denver Mukamba. They were an inspiration to me and motivated me a lot for me to be here.
“So now playing with Mukamba whom I admired a lot growing up wishing to be like him is unbelievable for me.”
Ziocha believes it means a lot for him to be part of DeMbare as he witnessed many football talents from Mbare failing to achieve that.
“For me, it’s a dream come true. Growing up in Mbare and finding myself playing for DeMbare. It’s a very big thing as so many players came from Mbare and couldn’t make it to play for a big team like Dynamos.
“This year I started with a knee injury. It was difficult to play consistently after returning from injury but for me, the slow start at Dynamos gave me time to settle and get better.
“Dynamos is not a small team. It’s a big team and when I was on the sidelines I had an opportunity to learn how to handle pressure. But besides starting slowly, I have managed to start to express myself with the ball slowly but surely.”
