SEVEN gaffers have been nominated for the Zimbabwe Soccer Coaches Association (Zisca) Bulawayo executive committee, as the organisation’s revival efforts continue.
Former Highlanders’ coach Bongani Mafu was nominated for the chairmanship, alongside Philani Mabhena (vice-chairman), Morris Mukwiti (secretary), Kudzayi Mhandire (treasurer), with Khona Tshabangu, Joseph Nkomazana and Shepherd Ndadzungira as committee members.
The vote will be held on Friday.
“The interim committee has been working very well. We had our ups and downs for the past three months, but we had to work as one unit and cannot take out the fact that the interim executive members were workaholics. Voluntary work needs football at heart and that is what we have done,” said Mafu.
“The entire interim executive committee had no challengers because the Bulawayo coaches feel it is time to move on and are confident that the people currently on the job at the moment are doing a great job,” said Mafu.
So far, Zisca Bulawayo province has representatives in five districts, Imbizo, Mzilikazi, Reigate, Khami and Bulawayo Central. It has also accommodated area zones such as Ntabazinduna and the Bulawayo Amateur Football Association
A collection was also done for Warriors and Highlanders’ legend Madinda Ndlovu, who suffered a stroke during a training session at his side Gaborone United in September.
Ndlovu has since recovered, but is not yet fully fit to return to the intense demands of football and has taken a break from the game.
