FIXED telephone network provider TelOne today signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the National University of Science and Technology(NUST) to establish a framework for research in the ICT sector.

The agreement is to support business development through turning research papers into viable business solutions.

Through the agreement TelOne will be able to approach NUST to commission research in a particular area of interest.

The parastatal’s managing director Mrs Chipo Mtasa said there is an opportunity for the country’s tertiary institutions to contribute meaningfully to national growth through research.

“Instead of cracking heads looking for expertise abroad, we can use our own here. There are young minds here with great ideas. We can support each other in growing our ICT sector,” said Mrs Mtasa after the signing ceremony in Bulawayo.
