MUSHOWANI Stars captain Zivanai Mhanda, who was crowned the World Navi Northern Region Division One Soccer Star of the Year, believes it was his year to excel.

The attacking midfielder had an outstanding season and was rewarded with a car after being voted the best player in the league.

“I saw it coming,” said the 24-year-old Mhanda.

“I had confidence in myself and there were some targets I had set when the season begun and that pushed me throughout the season.

“It is an honour to win the accolade and this will give me more pressure to work even harder next year especially now that I will be going for some trials in Japan.

“I would like to strike a deal. I will start preparing for the trials soon and I have to remain focused and utilise the opportunity and make a name for myself and my club.

“Everyone, including my family members, will be happy if I make it on the international arena.”
