THE Zimbabwe National Army, as part of its community assistance and in fulfilment of its secondary role of aid to civil communities, will this weekend conduct two days of free eye operations in Mutoko and Kotwa areas.

The exercise is being conducted in areas under Chief Nechombo, Chief Mutoko, Chief Charehwa and Chief Mangwende.

In a statement yesterday, ZNA deputy director Public Relations, Lieutenant Colonel Alex Zuva, said the army will continue with aid to communities in its constitutional mandate of defending the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Zimbabwe.

“The ZNA is conducting a field training exercise in the general areas of Mutoko, Murehwa, Mudzi and Kotwa.

“The exercise is part of routine training that the force regularly conducts in fulfilment of its constitutional mandate,” reads part of the  statement.

“As part of the ZNA community assistance and in fulfilment of the secondary role of aid to communities, a programme for eye cataracts operations will be conducted in Mutoko and Kotwa from 26 to 29August.”
