ZNA members descend on Mechanised Brigade for 2025 national inter-formations sports finals

More than 1 700 members of the Zimbabwe National Army (ZNA) formations and units from across the country have converged at the Inkomo Garrison for the national Inter-formations and units sports competition finals.

The annual competitions include winning teams from the northern and southern regions in 14 sporting disciplines.

Regions undertook qualifying Inter-formations and units competition to select representatives at this year’s finals.

The last competitions were held at One Brigade in Bulawayo. Commander Mechanised Brigade Brigadier-General Raban Nikisi launched the games, calling on participants to uphold the spirit of sportsmanship.

Commander Zimbabwe National Army Lieutenant-General Emmanuel Matatu, will officiate at the closing ceremony on Friday.

Teams participating include 1 to 5 Infantry Brigades, Presidential Guards, Mechanised and Artillery brigades, Harare and Bulawayo districts, Masasa Logistics Garrison, Commando, Parachute, Mounted and Air Defence regiments.

A carnival atmosphere engulfed the Mechanised Brigade Headquarters as ZNA personnel traded their fatigue for sportswear.

The games have a full repertoire of drumbeats, music and the eccentric flair typical of school and various sports fields.
