THE Zimbabwe National Army’s Executive Interaction Initiative (EII) is growing by the day as evidenced by the increase in participation by the corporate world and the number of chapters that have been opened, the army commander has said.
In an interview on the sidelines of the EII at 1.2 Infantry Battalion Range on Friday last week, the commander of the Zimbabwe National Army Lieutenant General Philip Valerio Sibanda said since the formation of the initiative 10 years ago, it had grown at a phenomenal rate and now boasted the participation of nine provinces.

“We are actually celebrating our 10th anniversary since the establishment of this initiative and I must say it has grown tremendously over the years. More companies are coming out to support us and as I speak, we have nine chapters which are administratively called provinces, save for Matabeleland South which we are working on,” Lt Gen Sibanda said.

He said the initiative was an opportunity for the army to interact with executives from the corporate world who play a role in supporting the army, whether monetarily or with resources through playing golf and conducting a fun shoot.

Lt Gen Sibanda said this year’s interactions were being staged by the Midlands province but were being held at Hwange and Victoria Falls due the availability of facilities such as golf courses.

This year’s edition, which was held under the theme: “Self-motivation, a key to success”, saw the corporate world interacting with senior military officials from China, Mozambique, Zambia, Botswana, Belgium and South Africa.

The three-day event featured a fun shoot at 1.2 Infantry Battalion Range and a Golf tournament at Elephant Hills in Victoria Falls with chief executive officers from CBZ, Colcom, Sakunda Energy, Creative Computers, Hwange Colliery Company and Makomo Resources among others.
