NEWLY elected Zimbabwe National Chamber of Commerce (ZNCC) Matabeleland Region leadership has pledged to amplify synergies across all sectors in the region with a view of having a conducive environment for business growth and investment.
The regional branch held its election at the mother body’s annual general meeting held in Victoria Fall last week.
Incoming vice-president, Mr Mackenzie Dongo said during his tenure, he would strive to ensure that the chapter is more visible and vibrant in being the voice of business through meaningful engagements cutting across all relevant stakeholders.
Mr Dongo who is the MAC Motors managing director takes over from Bit Bags managing director, Mr Louis Herbst who had been the vice president since October 2021.
“Among my top priorities as the vice-president is to make the Matabeleland chapter more visible and vibrant in being the voice of business through meaningful engagements cutting across all relevant stakeholders, which includes Government, parastatals, regulatory authorities, municipalities, and all other relevant stakeholders so as to lobby for better policy formulation conducive for business growth and investment,” said the former ZNCC Matabeleland chairperson.
The incoming ZNCC Bulawayo chairperson, the managing director of Allied Security and Curry Mine, Mr Bekezela Moyo said his mission is to lobby policymakers and relevant stakeholders to make sure that they provide a level playing field for the businesses in Matabeleland.
“We also want to look into the issues of devolution in Matabeleland as we want to create a fair playing field. We also want to engage with other like-minded businesspeople to ponder and think of where to develop our region together.
“I’m looking forward to engaging several businesspeople and also having them sit down with the chamber to map the way forward on how we can build our country, our region, and improve our communities. I’m hoping to push the chamber in the Matabeleland region to greater heights,” said Mr Moyo.
Dual Core managing director Mr Joseph Scott who was elected the ZNCC Bulawayo deputy chairperson said the promotion of brand Zimbabwe, rehabilitation of the Matabeleland manufacturing sector, and job creation would form the core of their agenda.
“I thank our outgoing presidium, chairman, and board executives, I believe under the circumstances of the Covid-19 pandemic which created economic uncertainty was a challenge we all faced as a chamber and a nation but through President Mnangagwa’s guidance through Vision 2030 beginning with the National Development Strategy 1 (NDS1) we have performed exceptionally well and continue to do so for the foreseeable future.
“We too have established momentum as a chamber and it’s necessary to keep that moving forward.”
