SEVERAL Bulawayo businessman and managers will receive excellence awards tomorrow when the Zimbabwe National Chamber of Commerce (ZNCC) hosts the Matabeleland annual business awards.
The awards ceremony will be held at a city hotel under the theme, “The Dawn of a new economic era through ICT innovation”.
ZNCC organises the event annually to honour and recognise outstanding business performance in the previous fiscal calendar year with the aim of fostering a competitive culture within industry.
“ZNCC believes that this rivalry is good for the growth of business by promoting a way of doing business founded on good workmanship, with prospects of ultimately translating into improved product and service delivery in the process heightening the spirit of excellence in mundane business practice,” Mduduzi Ncube, ZNCC regional manager said.
Among the top manager of the year nominees for the Matabeleland awards (in no particular order) are Jonathan Hudson of Victoria Falls Safari Lodge, Margaret Vera of Old Mutual, Busisa Moyo United Refineries, Siqokoqela Mphoko (Choppies), Lovemore Chinaka (Zesa) and a J Bonnet from Femina Garments.
Ncube said nominees were drawn from lifetime achievement award category, business woman of the year, Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) award, best finance institution support small to medium enterprises award, investor of the year and the public enterprise award, among others.
The awards for the Harare chapter were held last Friday where CBZ scooped the best bank supporting small to medium enterprises. ZB bank and CABS came out first and second respectively in that category.
