BIG cities are no longer priorities when artistes are choosing where to perform. Of late, the quiet town of Hwange has been hogging the limelight by constantly hosting big entertainers. Harare-based pole dancer, Zoey, is the latest ‘on-demand-performer’ to descend on the coal mining town, with her first-ever stage appearance billed for the spacious GVZ Leisure Centre tonight.
GVZ Leisure Centre has been home to many singers and performers including urban grooves gurus Maskiri and Roki and sungura maestro Nicholas ‘Madzibaba’ Zacharia.
With Zoey set to deliver her raunchy dances in a town that rarely gets first-class entertainment, show organisers say they trust the dancer will live up to expectations.
“Tickets to Zoey’s show are selling fast and we’re certain she’ll give patrons a show to remember,” said Elvis Munsaka, one of the organisers of the event.
Zoey urged the Hwange community to expect the best from her.
“I’m looking forward to the show. The people of Hwange must expect the best out of Zoey and the Red Angels,” said the self-proclaimed queen of pole dancing.
Zoey’s show coincides with one of the country’s flagship golf contests, the Hwange Open golf tournament which attracts more than 100 professional players.
“Golfers, after a long day on the greens, might as well have a date with Zimbabwe’s most-sought-after dancer.
We’re expecting a varied audience and of course, our very supportive locals,” said Munsaka.
Munsaka, who also manages two other leisure spots along the Hwange-Victoria Falls highway, said they have lined up a bumper entertainment programme for the summer season.
