It will be a fusion of urban contemporary and sungura from arguably two of the country’s best musicians, currently enjoying a purple patch.
For those who can’t make it to Mupandawana Growth Point in Gutu, for the Heroesplush Gala, the Pamuzinda gig is expected to be the toast of music lovers in Harare.
The show is being powered by Chipaz Promotions in conjunction with cigarette manufacturer Savanna Tobacco, which has been actively involved in the promotion of the arts in Zimbabwe.
At the beginning of this year, Savanna Tobacco also supported the Chipaz Charity soccer tournament pitting Zimbabwe’s yesteryear soccer greats and musicians.
It has a number of initiatives for artistes that will be unveiled later this year. The gig promises to be more than a musical show as fans of the popular Harare football giants, Dynamos Football Club, will also be honoured for their support of both Macheso and their team which Savannah Tobacco sponsors.
“This is the first time that Macheso and Jah Prayzah combine for a full show at Pamuzinda.
“We want to promote the Zora Butter brand and what it means is that Dynamos fans should come and support the event that Savanna Tobacco started,” Partson “Chipaz” Chimbodza of Chipaz Promotions said.
Macheso — who recently acquired the services of dancer Forward Antonio to replace Peter Kagomera, who is reported to have joined Beverly Sibanda’s Sexy Angels — will be doing his “Zora Butter” routine, which he has been popularised in virtually every sphere in society, from music and soccer among others.
This is not the first time that “Extrabasso” has played at Pamuzinda Highway Escape and those who have been to his previous shows at the joint know that he has turned it into one of his favourite bases.
Fresh from a tour of the United Kingdom, where he lifted the country’s flag high with his music, Macheso is known for his versatility on the bass guitar, microphone, dance floor and this is the kind of act that fans should look forward to. His catalogue of songs like “Shedia”, “Petunia”, “Madhawu”, “Wemakonzo” and “Tafadzwa” among others are crowd favourites and Macheso will without doubt oblige his fans at the show.
Jah Prayzah, on the other hand, has been having an upward spiral inasfar as his music career is concerned.
Ever since he burst onto the music scene a few years ago, the gangly and dreadlocked artiste has caught the eye of many with his infectious contemporary reggae gems.
Songs like “Wandifungisa Kure”, “Gochi Gochi”, “Maria” and “Ngwarira Kuparara” have been hugely popular with music lovers every time he goes on stage.
