ZPC Hwange have intensified their preparations for the upcoming Zifa Southern Region Division One League, revealing that they will soon be unveiling their complete squad.

So far, the Hwange based club has acquired experienced players that include midfielder Eddy Nkulungo and striker Courage Sibanda.

Nkulungo boasts a wealth of experience, having featured for Bulawayo City, Quelaton, Bantu Rovers and various other teams over the years.

Having revealed earlier in February their plans for the season, ZPC Hwange chairman Farai Mahachi told Zimpapers Sports Hub that their focus was to fuse experience and youth in the team.

Mahachi disclosed their season’s plans, saying they aimed at combining experience and youth within the team.

He, yesterday said they had also signed 17-year-old Tanatswa Nyamburi and Ashley Tembo (19) who are both from the coal mining town.

“We are in the process of finalising our squad and I am happy to say so far all is going according to plan. We have been having briefs with the coaches and we are satisfied.

“Notable signings are Eddy Nkulungo, who is a midfielder and has been playing for years in different teams. We have also brought in Courage Sibanda, a striker. The rest are young boys, with the youngest being Tanatswa Nyamburi, who is 17 years old and Ashley Tembo, aged 19. These young boys are from the local community of Ingagula, here in Hwange. We will notify our fans and stakeholders of the full team,” said Mahachi.

He said in their strategic review meeting, they were in agreement to attract talented players from Hwange, so as to be relevant in the community, they serve and also be of help in changing players’ lives for the better

“Our primary focus is on community engagement and attracting fresh talent from Hwange. This aligns with our parent company’s corporate social responsibility policy. Our aim is to establish a team deeply connected to the community and committed to fostering the growth of young individuals. In so doing, we are bringing our team closer to the people,” he said.

ZPC Hwange recently brought on board experienced coach Mebelo Njekwa.

The coach served as an assistant coach at Premiership side Hwange, working alongside Zambian Tenant Chilumba and Nation Dube.

Mahachi said that they chose Njekwa, as they believed he was the most suitable candidate for the position, considering his extensive experience in the field.

Njekwa is assisted by Mthandazo Nkala and Brighton Siziba, with Brighton Kekala serving as goalkeepers’ coach and Bonamali Bwanali as the fitness trainer.

The team manager is former footballer Carrington Gomba.-@NkosieLegend
