ZPC Hwange seek head coach

Several notable coaches have been shortlisted.
Solomon Kaseke and Philani Ncube are among those shortlisted and rate among the favourites and have proven track records having taken Shabanie Mine and Chicken Inn to the Premier Soccer League.
The successful candidate will replace Lindile Dube who passed on last year having led the team to third place.
Sources said the power utility company might also pull a stunner by luring the legendary Moses Chunga to Chakona Stadium, their home ground.
“These guys are so ambitious and believe that this is their year to gain promotion to the elite league and are lining up a scoop to bring Bambo here,” said the source.
The source said the team management have said they need Premiership football next year and as such a top coach with a proven track record must guide the team.
However club secretary general Gaylord Madhunguza, refuted the claims but did agree that they once had a chat with the former Gunners coach but it was purely on an administrative level.
“Chunga is not one of the candidates that we will interview on Monday although of course we sought his input on the best candidate for the job. People started speculating when they saw him during Dube’s funeral last year,” said Madhunguza.
Chunga is the interim president of the Coaches Union of Zimbabwe.
Madunguza however, only released six names, further adding fuel to the speculations that the seventh candidate could indeed be Chunga.
“We are going to have Solomon Kaseke, Philani Beefy Ncube, Anderson Phiri, David Phiri, Njabulo Dube and Shepherd Ndadzungaira,” said Madunguza.
The secretary and spokesman of the team said their stance of having ZPC (Hwange) playing in the elite league next year has not changed and as such the new man’s top priority will be to help fulfill that vision.
He said the team has all the arsenal needed although there was still room to add more quality players depending on what the coaches will say.
“ZPC (Hwange) should be playing in the Premiership next year and the man we will hire has to fulfill that vision,” he said.
ZPC (Hwange) will compete for the sole ticket from the Southern Region against seasoned campaigners like Railstars, youthful Bantu Rovers, Zimbabwe Saints and Tsholotsho Pirates.
Some of their top players include Thembinkosi ‘Tinkler’ Rendo and Lifasi Nyathi, players who have played in the Premiership for Hwange before and they will certainly add the much needed experience and depth – a prerequisite in lower leagues.
