ZPC Kariba 1-0 Triangle

ZPC KARIBA coach Darlington Dodo is happy with the way his troops have started this season picking seven points in four matches unlike last season when they had a bad start in the Castle Lager Premiership.

The Kariba side picked priceless three points at the National Sports Stadium as they inflicted first defeat on Triangle.

ZPC Kariba exciting right winger Tinotenda Chiunye made the difference on Easter Sunday with a 32 minute strike. He atoned for a miss at the half hour mark. But this time around he got it right, latching onto a ball that was delivered to him from the left.

Dodo was pleased to bounce back to winning ways after they were beaten 1-0 by Caps United at the same venue last weekend. Before that, they had won with a similar margin against Bulawayo Chiefs. In their opening league match they held Highlanders to a 0-0 draw.

“We have started well this season and the confidence is growing. The boys are now believing and that is exactly what we wanted, a good start and the confidence will grow. I think it’s a fair start, we have started well and want to keep on doing that,” said Dodo.

Triangle lost a match for the first time this season having managed two consecutive goalless draws against Ngezi Platinum Stars and Manica Diamonds. They managed to beat Herentals in the opening match at Gibbo stadium. Triangle assistant coach Thomas Ruzive said they are still rebuilding a new side.

“Considering this is a new team and we are playing away from home, I think the guys did very well and just slept on the wheel in the early minutes.

“Their approach to the game in the early minutes was our main problem because they were very slow in their reaction.

The hosts were the better side in the first half penetrating the rearguard of the visitors.
