ZPC Kariba 2-0 Harare City
ZPC Kariba registered their second victory at home when they beat visiting Harare City in a Premier League match at Nyamhunga yesterday.
The win enabled the electricians to move away from the relegation zone. Sunday Chidzambwa’s side got their opener through Proshato Kabwe in the 67th minute.
Kabwe beat Tafadzwa Dube after exchanging good passes in the box with Leonard Fiyado.
Veteran Tawanda Nyamwande then grabbed ZPC Kariba’s second goal in the 78th minute when he scored from a set-piece delivered by Tsepo Rantokoane.
The hosts who were the better team and could have won the encounter with more than five goals if their strikers had converted most of their chances.
The game started at a slow pace but ZPC Kariba were the first to threaten but Fiyado sent the chance begging when he blazed his shot over the bar after being set up by Raphael Manuvire in the 14th minute.
Manuvire also missed another chance in the 33rd minute when he failed to just slot home fter being set by up Russel Madamombe.
Harare City had a good opportunity to surge ahead in the 57th minute but Kudakwashe Kumwala had his shot saved by goalkeeper Tendai Hove.
Kumwala had earlier on bulldozed through ZPC Kariba defenders and his finishing failed him.
ZPC Kariba coach Sunday Chidzambwa was happy with the result but blamed his strikers for being wasteful.
“Unfortunately, it’s becoming normal to us to miss the chances. We could have won the match by more than five goals but the win still enables us to move away from relegation zone,” said Chidzambwa.
The Sunshine Boys coach Taurai Mangwiro blamed his defenders for slack marking in the second half.
“We had managed to contain ZPC Kariba until the 67th minute when they got their first goal. Then our defenders started to panic,” said Mangwiro.
