Zimbabwe Prisons and   Correctional Service (ZPCS)  Commissioner General Dr Moses Chihobvu has been honoured with the African Lives Development Award at the third Africa Education Summit in Victoria Falls today.

The event was officially opened by President Emmerson Mnangagwa yesterday.

Under the Commissioner General’s transformative leadership, ZPCS has placed education at the centre of rehabilitation and empowerment.

Notable achievements include the establishment of 12 primary schools, three secondary schools, and 13 Zimsec adult centres offering academic pathways from Grade 7 to ‘A’ Level.

The organisation also successfully assumed control of Guruve Prison and Bindura Primary Schools, with plans underway to launch a ZPCS secondary boarding school.

Inmates and officers are benefiting from a wide range of vocational and professional training programmes, while the recruitment of qualified teachers has strengthened the quality of education at ZPCS institutions.

The introduction of the Commissioner General’s sports gala and merit awards in 2023 further cemented ZPCS’s commitment to recognising excellence in education and sports.

This award is a resounding endorsement of the Commissioner General’s progressive approach to correctional services and ZPCS’s growing role as a model for rehabilitation.
