The promotions span several institutions, including Chipinge Prison, Mutare Farm Prison, Mutare Remand Prison, Rusape Prison, Little Kraal Farm Prison, and ZPCS Manicaland Provincial Headquarters.
Twenty-one officers were commissioned by President Emmerson Mnangagwa, while 136 received their ranks from ZPCS Commissioner-General Dr Moses Chihobvu.
ZPCS Commanding Officer for Manicaland, Commissioner Spetosomusa Chinobva officiated the badge conferment ceremony on behalf of Commissioner-General Chihobvu.
She underscored that the promotions were based on merit, dedication, and leadership potential.
“These promotions reflect merit, dedication, and leadership. We expect all promoted officers to lead with integrity, inspire their teams, and uphold ZPCS values,” said Commissioner Chinobva.
She reminded officers that their new ranks bring greater responsibility and accountability, urging them to lead with discipline, patriotism, and unity.
The officers were also encouraged to take a stand against drug and substance abuse in communities.
Nationally, 419 commissioned officers were promoted, including three Assistant Commissioners, five Chief Superintendents, 16 Superintendents, 70 Chief Correctional Officers, and 325 Principal Correctional Officers.
Of these, 312 were male and 107 female – demonstrating ZPCS’s commitment to gender equality in line with national policy.
