ZRP Bulawayo Province Soccer League title race hots up

TITLE aspirants in the Bulawayo ZRP Soccer League Entumbane seem to be on course as the competition enters Week 18 tomorrow with matches scattered around the city.

A four-point gap is the difference between them and second placed Mzilikazi whose inconsistency may cost them the 2023 title.

Last week Mzilikazi were held to a draw by 10-man Pumula at home and with that they lost two valuable points.

As the race hots up, men are slowly being separated from boys and contenders from pretenders. Entumbane find themselves on the summit of the 17-team log with 39 points closely followed by Mzilikazi on 35.

Tshabalala are just a point below Mzilikazi on 34 and the Detectives with a game in hand and stubborn Magwegwe FC are fourth on 31.

Struggling Khumalo find themselves anchoring the log with eight points from their 17 games and Pumula, the surprise package who should have been up there with the big boys challenging for the title, find themselves languishing third from bottom.

Top of the Week 18 fixtures is the Mzilikazi clash with tricky CID at Crescent A Arena.

A Nkulumane district derby is on the cards as Nkulumane FC play host to inconsistent Tshabalala at Mandwandwe High School.

Stubborn Magwegwe make the longest trip as they play away to Sauerspark at Zimbabwe Saints Sports Club, and a win for them may raise their hopes for a top-eight finish. Focus will also be on leading goalscorers CID captain Elvis Wilson and Mgcini Mpofu of Entumbane who are both tied on 12 goals.
