THREE Zifa Division One players are headed for trials in Europe after being identified by European coaches during the Joshua Nkomo Trukumb Top 8 knockout competition that was won by ZRP Bulawayo Province yesterday afternoon.

ZRP Byo beat Bosso90 3-0 in a pulsating match played at White Stadium to lift the inaugural cup.

Three European coaches, Slovak, Stanislav Liekovsky, Czechs, Peter Venglarcik and Miroslan Nemec were in the country for the duration of the tournament and identified three players that have the potential of making it in Europe.
Bantu Rovers’ Crispen Ncube and two Bosso90 players caught the eyes of the three and have been earmarked for trials next month.

Austrian-based football agent, Didier Kanku, who facilitated the trip for the coaches’ presence, said he did not have the names of the two Bosso90 players they had identified but confirmed earmarking the duo for Europe.

Kanku said the coaches were impressed with the talent in the league but most players needed refinement.

“You can see the talent in the players but they need to be more technical otherwise they won’t be able to make it in Europe,” he said adding that prior to the tournament they had already indentified six Talen Vision players who are going for trials in Slovakia and the Czech Republic and they include Mbekezeli Sibanda, Njabulo Mpofu, Tawanda Muchaya, Terence Nyoni and Congolese, Patrick Gigambo.

ZRP Bulawayo got their goals from Eriko Phiri who got the top goal scorer’s award, Mlungisi Ncube and Kenneth Dube.

The police side dominated the first half scoring two goals and despite being on top for the better part of the second half, Bosso90 could not find the back of the net.

ZRP got $2 400 for their efforts while Bosso90 pocketed $1 500 with losing semi-finalists ZPC Hwange and Amagagasi walked away with $700 each.

Talen Vision, Bantu Rovers, Blackboots and Indlovu Iyanyathela, who were knocked out in the first round got $300 each.
