ZRP MORRIS coach John “Toto’’ Ncube maintained that their campaign is still on track despite being held by Twalumba at Morris Depot in a World Navi Northern Region Division One Soccer League match yesterday.
The home team created a number of chances, but their strikers let them down as they wasted opportunities.
The police side’s first chance came in the 31st minute when Collen Kadzinga crossed the ball from the left side into the box, but Steven Sheshe was too slow to connect.
Two minutes later, former Eagles man Isaac Madziva beat Twalumba’s defenders, but failed to go past the goalkeeper as he shot the ball straight into goalkeeper Reason Nyasoka’s hands from close range. They continued pressing in the second half but nothing came out.
Despite the two points dropped in their backyard, Ncube said he was still satisfied with the result.
“I can say maybe it was a fair game to us, but unfortunately we were playing at home and we missed a lot of chances. We could have maybe wrapped up the game in the 90 minutes, but unfortunately it’s the name of the game you miss some and you score some.
“At the end of the day we did not lose because we were playing at home. I am satisfied with that draw,” said Ncube.
Twalumba also had their chances but just like their opponents they too could not convert.
The youthful side has been struggling since the second half of the league started and yesterday’s draw did not make their situation any better as they remained second from bottom.
Their coach, Wilson Mutekede said the current dry spell is a cause for concern with 10 games remaining in the league.
In another match at Old Hararians, DStv Rangers beat Black Mambas 1-0 with ageless striker Gilbert Mushangazhike grabbing the winner in the 37th minute.
The victory helped DStv jumping four places up from 13th to ninth with 31 points.
