THE Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) Women’s Network Matabeleland North Chapter has donated stationery and sanitary ware worth $900 to 30 pupils at Jimila Secondary School in Tsholotsho District. The school is one of the public institutions that were affected by recent floods that left a trail of destruction in the district.Handing over the donation last week, ZRP Women’s network chair in Matabeleland North, Assistant Commissioner Dorcas Nyadenga, said the police were moved by the plight of the affected children and decided to chip in.

“As mothers we felt investing in education and safety of girls should be our priority. We believe that today’s child is tomorrow’s leader,” she said.
Eighteen girls and 12 boys from villages across the Gwayi River benefited from the donation. The group has been staying at makeshift boarding facilities at the school since January after they were marooned when the area was hit by floods.

Chief Mathuphula, Tsholotsho District Administrator Nosizi Dube and members of the district Civil Protection Unit witnessed the event.
