KEEN to see an improvement in local rugby the Zimbabwe Rugby Union embarked on a one-day session of a World Rugby Level One coaching course at Bulawayo’s Hartsfield Rugby Ground last Friday.
The coaching clinic, which was open for individuals who wanted to pursue a coaching career in rugby, was attended by 22 people, with some coming from places as far as Hwange and Gwanda.
Conducting the session was the ZRU technical director Brighton Chivandire who is also a holder of a World Rugby Level Three coaching certificate and coach educator.
Rugby knowledge was imparted by the former Sables coach, to a field that included college students, rugby players and also a few individuals who have a passion for the development of the sport.
Chivandire told the Sunday News Sport that the course was the foundation for the rugby coaching career and that such sessions were held for the benefit of the schools who play the sport but lack quality coaches with qualifications.
