ZTA gears up for Sanganai-Hlanganani carnival

Sanganai-Hlanganani, World Travel Fair which opens on October 10.
Highlights for this year include a procession by exhibitors, stakeholders, drum majorettes and the public who are expected to gather at Africa Unity Square at 9.30am and thereafter there is going to be a march through the city which ends at the Harare Gardens.

There will be lots of entertainment and activities lined up at the Harare Gardens where exhibitors and non-exhibitors will have an opportunity to mix and mingle.
Givemore Chidzidzi, the chief operating officer of ZTA, said the procession would give a foretaste of what’s in store for next year’s bigger carnival.
“This year we are going to host a small carnival which we hope will be precursor to what is going to happen next year when we host the bigger carnival.

“The procession is aimed at giving a livelier and entertaining atmosphere as well as creating the hype in the build-up to next year’s carnival,” Chidzidzi said.
He urged families to come in their numbers and enjoy a day out with stakeholders in tourism.
“There is going to be lots of fun, entertainment for the whole family including military bands, cultural groups, drum majorettes from different schools, players in the industry, commerce and tourism.

“Later in the afternoon we expect people to go to the Borrowdale Racecourse for the Spin Fest where we are going to have a car show,” he said.
Chidzidzi, however, said the annual Tourism Night which used to run on the sidelines of Sanganai-Hlanganani, World Travel Fair was postponed.

“We are moving towards the festive season and because of that we have decided to reschedule the event further so that we focus on Sanganai-Hlanagani first and then later we host the event during the festive period,” he said.

Last year, ZTA also postponed the event as it clashed with Lion Lager Beer Festival, which saw Jamaican dancehall king Beenie Man performing alongside Zimbabwe’s own Winky D.
Previously, performing artistes such as Ringo Madlingozi, Djouna the Big One, Extra Musica and film actors Patience Ozwokor, Ejike Asiegbu and Chinedu Ikedieze among others took part in the event.
