Oscar Rusenga in TRIANGLE
TRIANGLE coach Biggie Zuze is confident his side will upset high-flying Hwange when the two teams meet in a Castle Lager Premiership soccer tie at the Colliery tomorrow.
Hwange are the only side to have collected maximum points in the two games played so far and have scored the highest number of goals after finding the target five times against Buffaloes and scoring three in a remarkable 3-2 comeback win over FC Platinum.
Triangle also have their confidence boosted after comfortably winning 3-1 against newboys Chiredzi FC, thanks to a sensational hattrick by Nhamo Lameck, in a Lowveld derby.
“It’s a long 15-hour journey to Hwange and we hope travelling will not affect us because if we don’t plan accordingly fatigue will affect our plans,” said Zuze.
“We are going to Hwange to try and achieve a good result, we will try to focus because Hwange are a very good side, they defend well and they are very good at set pieces and that will make a very interesting match considering that we are also good upfront and balanced in all departments.
“The Colliery, unlike Maglas where we struggled, is a good pitch and we will express our play.”
The Lowveld side is sweating over the fitness of their hattrick hero Lameck and Courage Denias, who both got knocks in the game against Chiredzi.
The two will face a late fitness test and the team doctors will have a final say on whether they will make the cut or not.
Triangle captain and towering defender Chasten Ngondonga said they need to work hard to come out with a good result.
“We have to make sure they don’t create scoring opportunities because they have shown that they are sharp upfront with Aleck Marime and Rodwell Chinyengetere leading their attack,” said Ngondonga.
“We have to be organised in defence and try to avoid unnecessary fouls in our defensive third because Hwange are very dangerous at set-pieces.
“We are going there coming from a good win against Chiredzi but we don’t have to be complacent, we are still the underdogs and the pressure is on them since they are at home and on top of the log standings and they will be looking for their first win against us.”
Hwange are yet to beat Triangle in the Premiership.
Triangle collected three points in their first meeting at the Colliery thanks to an own goal by Gerald Ndlovu.
The two teams drew 2-2 at Gibbo.
