Zvishavane derby: FC Platinum skipper upbeat

FC PLATINUM captain Daniel Veremu is confident that his side will collect maximum points tomorrow in the Zvishavane derby.
“I am very confident that we are going to beat Shabanie but we have to be at our best because we are playing in a derby match. Whoever gets selected must do his best for the platinum family.
“We have a number of injuries and it will affect the team selection. As the captain of the club I am appealing to fans to shun violence.

They must come in their numbers and cheer their teams and they must accept the final result,” said Veremu.
The Kugona Kunenge Kudada skipper has only played two games this season after an injury saw him sit it out for a while.
FC Platinum’s best player Qadr Amin is in a plaster so are Nelson Maziwisa and Stephen Sibanda.

Exciting midfielder Marshal Mudehwe and James Marufu are suspended. The side, however, has registered Ian Nekati whom they had at one time suspended because of indiscipline.

FC Platinum might also field Benjamin Marere acquired from How Mine.
Coach LIoyd Mutasa received a confidence boost ahead of the derby Mine after management said they were behind him.

The coach’s future at the club has been a subject of speculation and things got to a head last week when the club was knocked of the NetOne Sup8r Cup.

“FC Platinum executive management strongly refutes media reports alleging that a decision has been made to replace its head coach Lloyd Mutasa.

“As much as the results are not reflecting our true capabilities, as the executive of the club believe it’s premature to dismiss the coach. For the past year we have been going through a rebuilding exercise which has seen a number of new players and juniors included in the team.

“This factor taken together with the fact that 12 of our senior players are battling with various forms of injuries has understandably contributed to our under performance. What we need more than ever is to believe in our team and show unity of purpose. I have no doubt FC Platinum will emerge from this episode a stronger club,” read the statement from George Mawere, the FC Platinum president.

He called for calm from both teams’ sets of fans.
“I expect that the derby will live to its billing as one of the best in the country,” said Mawere.
