his team’s town rivals.
He described Saturday’s clash as a big game and a must-win for his chart topping lads.
“The game on Saturday is a big game and we are meeting town rivals. It is a very big game in Zimbabwe especially Zvishavane town and my guys should win the match and if they do so it will be a great thing for the nation and the majority of Zvishavane residents,” said Gondwe.
Like in any other derby, Gondwe said, stakes would be very high for either side. He promised good incentives for his team but could not divulge what he or the club would do for the boys.
“The stakes are going to be high on the day. I am going to do something big for the players and it will be a very big surprise to the team and I will even surprise the fans as we are going to celebrate the victory on the day. When you win a war against your adversaries you celebrate and that is what we are going to do on Saturday night.”
Gondwe was appointed caretaker manager last season when the team was fighting relegation.
This season he was confirmed as the welfare manager of the club. He has of late been helping with his own resources to transport the players to training sessions.
Yesterday he opened up and said he was bitter that FC Platinum were almost taking over the town which used to be Shabanie Mine team’s.
“I am happy that the team called (FC Platinum) qualified for the Independence Cup final. I want to congratulate them on their success but the big match is on Saturday. We are playing a league match and not a cup final and they must not expect any mercy from us,” he said.
Gondwe said his team was in Zvishavane before FC Platinum and as newcomers they were supposed to respect that.
He said the team remained big despite the challenges they are facing following suspension of production at Shabanie mine.
“We are the masters and we are the ones who introduced Premiership soccer here, so we lead the way and they must follow us.
“We have already beaten Quelaton and Blue Rangers so they are not an exception. I am urging our fans to come in numbers and support the team of Zvishavane town,” said Gondwe.
The battle in Zvishavane will take time to end as fans from both camps tend to rally behind the opposition when their team is not playing in the town.
