TWO Zvishavane men have been jailed for three years each after being convicted of a brutal robbery earlier this month.

Emmanuel Mukungure (24) and Dainley Dayimani (20), both of Chirere, were sentenced by the Zvishavane Magistrates’ Court on charges of robbery.

The court heard that on November 1, 2025, the victim was at a bottle store at Chirere Business Centre when the two men began to harass and threaten him.

Although they were initially restrained by another customer, the pair later waylaid the victim as he walked home.

Armed with a knife, the duo attacked the victim.

Mukungure held the victim’s hands while Dayimani kicked him repeatedly and stabbed him once in the right heel.

The assailants then forcibly took US$162 in cash and a Villaon cellphone, bringing the total value of stolen goods to US$222.

The complainant sustained a deep cut to his heel and broken ribs as a result of the assault. After the incident, he reported the matter to his employer, who assisted him in filing a police report. This led to the subsequent arrest of the two offenders.

The two men were initially sentenced to four years in prison each, before one year each was suspended for five years on condition of good behaviour.
