The occasion will be the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League blood and thunder derby affair between recently crowned Independence Cup champions FC Platinum and Shabanie Mine at Mandava Stadium.
FC Platinum has chosen to take a low approach ahead of the explosive match.
Shabanie Mine team manager Samson Gondwe stoked the flames when he labelled FC Platinum enemies of Shabanie Mine and promised to triumph over the star-studded side.
Philemon Muvengwa, the FC Platinum secretary, yesterday cooled the tempo when he admitted that his side respected the Chinda Boys.
“We respect Shabanie a lot and they are our big brothers. We are not looking at last season’s results because a lot of things have happened since we last played them although we managed to win both games.
“They bought some players and we did the same. They are the PSL log leaders and when you play log leaders you have to give them a lot of respect although we will not treat them with kids’ gloves,” said Muvengwa.
Webster Chitono, the Shabanie Mine chairman, urged fans to come in numbers as the match had all the ingredients of a thriller.
“It is a different ball game altogether and I want us to win because we are trailing. Last year we beat them in the Zvishavane Invitational Tournament that also had Masvingo United and Hwange where we eventually lifted the trophy. We then lost two matches in the league and we want to make sure that we turn the tables,” said Chitono.
