ZW$410 000 made available to clear off Highlanders debt

THE Highlanders Debt Clearance campaign led by South Africa based Nodumo Nyathi has sent ZWL$410 000 to clear off the club’s arrears.

Nyathi, the Highlanders South Africa Supporters chapter chairperson, who has for months been leading a campaign to pay off the Bosso debt announced on Friday that ZWL$410 000 had been made available to the club to pay off what was remaining of the obligations.

“We have done it, we have sent ZW$410 000 to the club. United we have cleared the Highlanders FC debt. We can safely say we have done it, the club will be making payments and when completed they will update us,’’ said Nyathi.

Last month, ZWL$400 000 was made available from the initiative to pay off part of the Highlanders obligations and all is pointing to Bosso now being debt free, with the club to provide confirmation in the coming days.

Nyathi first embarked on the ambitious project to extinguish the Highlanders debt in 2018 and when that flopped, he did not give up. He gave it a go again this year with minor tweaks, with the remodeled approach paying off now that the debt appears to have been cleared.
