A local organisation has donated over 1 600 reusable sanitary pads to two schools in Mashonaland West Province.

The donation was handed over to Mr Moses Mhike, Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education.

Dertaur Investment’s managing director, Mr Denford Derera, said the donation was inspired by an online story carried on heraldonline.co.zw

As part of their corporate social responsibility, they donated 816 pads to Portlet Secondary School and another 816 units to a school of Mr Mhike’s choice.

This initiative aims to combat period poverty and support rural learners in maintaining their education.

The Herald recently published a story that highlighted a Chinhoyi Technical High School student, Elizabeth Chikwenda’s initiative that is raising sanitary pads for disadvantaged girls.
